Model United Nations

CIMUN & ISMUN

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations, where participants represent countries or international organizations to discuss and resolve global issues such as climate change, human rights, and international security. Throughout my involvement in MUN, including CIMUN and ISMUN, I’ve taken on roles ranging from delegate to Chair, allowing me to develop key skills that have profoundly shaped my personal and professional growth. One of the most valuable aspects of MUN has been the improvement of my public speaking skills. Representing a country in front of large audiences and articulating complex positions honed my confidence, clarity, and ability to communicate under pressure. MUN also refined my debating skills, teaching me how to build persuasive arguments while respecting differing viewpoints, analyze issues critically, and respond to questions with factual evidence.MUN also fostered my abilities in negotiation and diplomacy. Negotiating resolutions with other delegates requires patience, empathy, and the ability to find common ground. Through these experiences, I learned how to build alliances and draft agreements that satisfy multiple perspectives while ensuring peace and cooperation. As a Chair, I developed strong leadership and organizational skills by facilitating debates, managing group dynamics, and ensuring that discussions followed procedural rules. This role demanded the ability to maintain fairness and guide productive discussions, while also encouraging full participation from all delegates. Finally, MUN significantly broadened my understanding of world affairs, giving me deep insight into international relations, diplomacy, and global governance. Researching and debating real-world issues in a structured setting has not only strengthened my knowledge but also fostered a global mindset.Overall, MUN has been an invaluable experience that enhanced my skills in public speaking, debating, leadership, and diplomacy, while deepening my knowledge of global issues.
